I have a DT40 Suzuki witha NA12S remote control. There is a throttle only lever on it. It only works with the shift handle in neutral. I can not move the shift out of neutral until I place the throttle only lever in idle. Is this how it is supposed to work? I need a little extra throttle to keep the engine from stalling when I engage the gears.
Yes, that is how it is supposed to work. If your engine is stalling when you put it in gear, then you have a problem that needs to be fixed, most likely in the carburetor.
That lever is the "fast idle" lever and is there to allow fast idle during warm up. It is interlocked with the regular controls so you can't put the normal lever in gear with the engine running at fast idle. This might pitch someone overboard or cause an incident around a dock or other congested area. Fix the idle issue.
What is the black knob on the fron to the control for , What does it do \, my grandson twisted it and now I dont know where to set it so I don't break something
