Suzuki Engine Monitor wiring

I was having some issues with the "engine monitor" gauge on my 1988 Suzuki DT200S and was wondering if anyone knows what the wiring is for the various indications. I was trying to figure out if I can just use standard 12V bulbs or LEDs as indicators. If so, are the signal lines grounds or lives? Also, anyone know what the various wires are by color? I have the aftermarket manual, but it doesn't detail the individual wires - it just shows them all coming from the engine and going to the monitor.

Also, can a standard tach be made to work with the Suzukis?
