Suzuki DT20 water pump

How can I tell if the tell tale is plugged or if I need a new water pump impeller. Only getting a trickle from the telltale but tons of water out the 2 holes in the back. Didnt want to risk running the motor to see if it got hot

hello the water from the 2 holes in the back is good. the tell tale on your engine will clog ith about 3 grans of sand. here we use a length of stainless leader wire and run it up the hole while the engine is running to clear them. good luck and keep posting

Wow, thanks for the quick reply. Are the 2 holes in the back the main outlet for water or does it also exit thru the hub with the exhaust. This is my first experience with Suzuki.

I have also found that an air hose will clear the lines as well. That motor should have a hot sensor (beep and the throttle) so running it submurged at 3/4 speed for 5 min should get a hot signal. If not, the thing is way cool.
