Default Suzuki 4 stroke and high air temperature

I have a 2006 Suzuki DF140. Yesterday on the lake it was over 100 degrees, and twice the motor stalled when trying to get up on plane, both times after sitting off for a while.

The first time it would not start for a few minutes. Only after I squeezed the fuel bulb a few times did it start (it was obviously empty on the first squeeze). The second time I gave the bulb a squeeze before attempting to re-start and it fired right up.

This was the first time in 60 hours on the engine I have ever used the squeeze bulb, the dealer told me the 4 strokes never need it.

Questions: Do these motors get "vapor lock" when the air temperature goes up? Is there any other problem you can think of? The first time It stalled I was 5 miles from the ramp and getting very nervous.

    Thanks for the help.

Vapor lock is the first thing I would suspect, Campy, particularly if the bulb seemed empty.

Thanks JB, I thought so too but I have never heard of vapor lock with a fuel injected engine.
