Default Suzuki 225 EFI 2 Stroke good or bad?

Guy'sI'm thinking about repowering my boat and found a FL Suzuki dealer selling his remaining Suzuki 225 EFI 2 Stroke motors for $8000.00. The catch is it must be shipped to and installed by a local Suzuki dealer. I don't have a problem with this. I've seen some post about poor Suzuki service, but most folks seem happy with these motors. Can anyone give me first hand experience on the Suzuki 225 EFI 2 Strokes. Are they a reliable motor?Stoked_not

Hello the 225 EFI was a very good running beast. you might try asking Friday's marine in saluda va or frisco cove in cape hatteras NC. the quirk about the warrenty is the motor must be installed and registered by an autherized dealer. I wish ALL motors had to be.I used to work at a suzuki dealer in Norfolk but its gone now. I think thoses are the only two dealers in the chesapeake area.good luck and keep posting

I have owned 3 pairs of these engines (200 & 225) and they are rock solid, a little thirsty, but solid. My last set had over 1400 hours and other than routine maintenance I never had to touch them. At that point they still had 120 lbs comp. in each hole. I talked to Luis R at Pelican Nest and he told me that he would sell the extended warr. for 1300.00 per side. If that price still stands, get the warr. Don't know if you want to save some $$ but i have my pair of 200's for sale. Bought new in 4/01 price includes all controls, guages, two sets of ss props, and a Flo-scan. The engines have 300 hrs. and have been flushed and washed each trip. Both in exc. cond. They are warranteed through 4/07. Asking 14,000.00
