Default racor fuel seperator on a 90hp yamaha

I recently purchased a racor 120r-rac--01 fuel seperator to install on my 96 90hp yamaha. I was told by a friend that the 10 micron element may cause a vacuum problem-Iwas wondering if anyone has had this problem . it's on a 17' whaler thanks!

According to Racor's own specs that filter is capable of passing 30 US gph. That would be way more than your motor needs to run.I'd use it, even on the suction side it would be unlikely to get near the limits. Racor Gas spin on elements Peter

hello should work. if you have any concerns use a standard automotive vacum gauge and check fuel system vacum. this should be done periodically anyway. it should be less than 4"hg at wot. good luck and keep posting

On my previous boat mine was installed after the primer bulb. That way you can at least get a visual check for any leaks after servicing because you are applying pressure to the unit.Peter

I would put the bulb then the filter. Else every time you have to drain out the bowl, you will have to reprime the filter, as the bulb wont work really well pumping air. You may in fact have a problem with filtration causing excessive vacum especially at lower rpm's. If you already have the smallest of air leaks this will make the problem worse. :o
