Default question about Yamaha fuel line clips

I have a 2001 Yamaha four stroke 9.9 on my sailboat. There's a pvc tube through the transom that the fuel line passes through that's too big for the fitting on the engine end of the fuel line to pass through. The clip that holds the fitting on doesn't look like it can be opened and re-used. I'm interested in installing a new fuel line but I'm not sure how those clips work. If I buy the new line it'll have the clip in place but I'll have to remove the fitting to pass the line through the hole and re-install the fitting on the end. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

I use the decent quality black radius head wire ties avalible from BRP or mercury. the white ones die rapidly when exposed to sunlight.
