    Default Mercury Tach with Yamaha outboard wont work

    Hi i have a 2005 yamaha 50hp but all the guages are mercury and the tachometer doesnt work im wondering if i need a yamaha tach to go with a yamaha outboard or should the mercury one work? im wondering if its the guage thats not working or something else

    As long as it is not a smartcraft tach it should work. Check you pole position on the back of the tach, where is it set.
    DO YOU HAVE: GOOD COMPRESSION, PROPERLY TIMED SPARK, PROPER FUEL AIR MIXTURE?
