Dr60 starting problems

Hi guys I'm
New here
I have a dt60 1983/84
I just wanted to know wether when the auto choke
Is selected do I have to do anything other than turn
The key? Or do I have to engage the solenoid eg press key
To close choke butterfly's and then press again to disengage ???

all electric chokes I have seen are only engaged when you push the key in or hit what ever switch it has, when you release the switch it drops back out.
Pull your cowling and watch what it does and how it works while pushing
