DF70 Suzuki 4-Stroke remove oil pump

I have a 2001 suzuki oil pressure failure. Checked for oil pressure, reads 0. Less the 50 hrs on motor. Also tried a new filter, no luck there. Is htere any way to get break down on replacing oil pump or is the problem in the pressure regulator. I know to check the pickup screen. I have tried everything i know to avoid taking the power unit off, any suggestions you would have would be greatly appreciated. Thank You. BONEFISH

Ahoy, Bonefish.I assume that you are using Suzuki's Service Manual and that you have measured the oil pressure with the engine running.You can check the pressure regulator, but your culprit is likely to be the pump.You do have to pull the powerhead to change the pump.Why aren't you in warranty? Didn't you get the standard 3 year warranty? Check with your dealer.Good luck.

bonefish,JB is right, check with your dealer to see if your covered. It sounds like the same failure I had on my 2001 DF70. Check engine lite came on and the engine returned to idle. Problem was that the camshaft connection to the oil pump failed. Suzuki covered the repair. The dealer charged the company 7 hours and about $300 for the new camshaft and misc. parts related to the replacement of the camshaft. I had 68.7 hours when the engine failed. Have 580 hours now and it runs great.

Bonefish, I work at a Suzuki Dealership and those fella's are correct. Your motor is covered under the three year warranty (or extended warranty) even though your motor has very low hours there is a maintenance schedule you are required to follow for your warranty to stay valid. I would not fix it carry it to your dealer and make them fix it that is why you have warranty. To many times they are happy to take your money and won't stand behind you after the sale.
