Good evening, I am a first timer on this site and I need some help with my suzuki 4 stroke outboard 200 hp.
The problem began last week when all of a sudden at full throttle the engine started to cut back and loose power. normal speed is 36 mph and I was down to 18mph. The next day I changed the plugs, discovered there was some water in the filter. Day 2, I left the dock and got stranded, boat shut off. I discovered there was a crimp in the fuel line and the bulb seemed flat. I straightend the line and tapped the bulb. The boat ran great for two days. Now it doing the same thing again. I have replaced the bulb and checked the fuel filter, no water found. At this point when I hit the gas it boggs down at 3000 rpms and revs up and down. I feel this is a simple fix, however, I am at a loss for what to try next. Any suggestions?
If your bulb is collapsing, it sounds like you gas tank vent is not working. Have you tried to run with the gas cap loose.
Fuel restrction issue between bulb and tank.
You could also try an auxiliary tank.
I tried taking the cap loose to no avail. I do agree that it is a fuel restriction. I'll try the auxillary tank next. If you can think o anything else please let me know.
Check the fuel filter in the tank. Its at the end of the pick up. Also the anti siphon valve which is when the fuel line enters the tank. You should be able to replace thewhole assembly for 30 bucks. To test do a seach for fuel line test. I did this two years ago and it took me step by step through the process. Try bypassing the assemby by dropping line in a gas can......
