2001 Evinrude 70hp - 4 stroke - Trim & Tilt Trouble
(it's really a Suzuki DF70 in disguise.)
I had a Short in the Tilt button @ the motor .
I am Guessing that It raised itself up and just kept going and going until it died.
So was it trying go "up" for 130min.?? ouch
-the battery is shot..
-Got a new Battery -
-hooked it up , but now it won't go anywhere @ all.
--it just clicks when I push down.
-..no clicking from either button when I push up...
Is there a simple solution to look @ 1st? a fuse perhaps -- a fail safe?
What's the Best and worst case scenio?
Bad relay or burnt out relay? or worse?
I really hope it's not bad......as the fish are biting!! and can't afford a big bill now...
thanks in advance
I stink @ trouble shooting..
any advice/experience would be greatly appreciated.
I heard This was the subject of a service bulletin back in 2002. The factory came out with a separate relay and harness assembly to take the load off the trim switch to keep them from shorting or from burning out. It is part #586806.
HMMM Suzuki part #???
I looked @ it last night and PTT relay plate was melted in Half and the Pos. wire leading to the "Up" relay was completly melted/burned off!...
So lucky that the whole motor didn't go on fire..
I'm starting by changing the relays , the PTT plate and wires...then we'll see what's next....
