    Default 1997 F9.9 Yamaha:Need info on inlet manifold gasket

    I took my carby off to give it an overhaul and when I removed the gasket I dropped it and its now at the bottom of the river, anyway I put the carby back on without gasket and it runs perfect.
    My question is what is the point of the gasket as its a very thin metal type gasket and doesnt seem to make a difference.
    Does it serve a purpose and should I replace it

    by new and install.
    Gasket helps seal mating surfaces and eliminate vacuum leaks
