I am all ready to winterize this weekend, and my dealer gave me the wrong damn oil filter! My boat is stored in a storage facility away from the house, so it's not very convienient to just run and confirm that I have the correct parts.I have a 2003 4.3L with an outboard oil filter, with VP part number 3850559.Does anyone know of an aftermarket cross reference for this filter? I would still plan on changing it with a genuine filter, but I would just like to get something so I can change the oil and circulate it before I drain the block, etc. Thanks for the help.
Get a standard Chevy V8 oil filter, (Not a V6 filter) It has the same thread and gasket arrangement as your remote filter. They may even have the longer version similar to the 3850559.If your Volvo dealer gave you a filter with an 835440 number, it is the same thing only shorter and you can still use it and it will work just as well as the 3850559 filter.

They sold you the old style block mounted filter for the V6.
