Engine would start fine then die roughly 90 sec later. Jumped the fuel pump relay and fuel pump operated fine. checked my start trigger voltage at the relay and received 10.8 volts. B+ to fuel pump lead at the relay socket was 12.3 volts. Replaced alternator suspecting P2 to relay during "run" had failed. Reconnected and double checked all fuses, breakers, connections and now the engine will not start at all. Checked ignition circuit, verified spark. Verified fuel pump and pigtail to fuel pump were functional. Verified pigtail to fuel pump to be receiving B+ in starting position. Only notable was that during start with relay in place, the pigtail to fuel pump was only receiving 10.8 volts (which can be attributed to the battery being pulled down by the starter if memory serves correctly). Verified breakers under dash weren't tripped and again checked fuses and connections. Now I'm completely at a loss.
Re: 5.0L Volvo GL fuel pump not coming on in start or run
If you have power and ground at the fuel pump connector, and the pump doesn't run, then the pump is bad.

Re: 5.0L Volvo GL fuel pump not coming on in start or run
Thanks Don. I retested after a one gallon purge and lo and behold, there was air in the line. The pump is now back to full operational pressure and the boat is now home with its owner. Thank you again and this thread can now be closed
