    Default 1996 Volvo DP-S tilt/trim sensor location

I have the above outdrive on my boat anf the tilt/trim gauge displays the same thing regardless of the real position of the drive. Although I guess it could be the gauge my guess is that it is probably the sensor??Where is it located? What is the best way to test it? How many wires are connected to it?Any help would be appreciatedThanks

The sender is located on the starboard side of the gimbal ring. The arrow is pointing at it in this picture. Here is how you test and adjust it.

I had the same problem on a Volvo Penta sx and from the diagram that Don posted it looks identical. What I found was that when I removed the sender (2 in Don's pics) there is a rubber nut shape that is turned as the drive raises / lowers in my case it wasnt tight enough on the shaft of the sender and as the drive raised it turned the nut but not the sender shaft. 2 drops of SuperGlue later and hey presto a working guage. Thank you all. I will check it out next week when I go to the barn. Wierd though, I looked this over a million times and did not see any wires or anything that resembled a sensor of any kind.

Start a new thread with your question. It's not a good idea to ask a question at the end of someone elses thread. Especially a 4 year old one.

Why can't I access the photo and test information? The attachment symbols have a red X through them. Please help - this site is a life saver. Thanks

Because this post and the pictures are nearly 5 years old and the links point to an old location now.
