Default would this tongue weight be alright?

Took the boat to get weighed this morning. The boat and trailer weigh in at 9120 lbs currently have 780 pounds of tongue weight. Moving the boat onto the trailer more isn't an option. My only other way to get more tongue weight is to move the axles back more. That weight was with only around 50 gallons of fuel. I have a 100 gallon fuel tank.

    Ayuh,.....

You're on the borderline of what I consider Good to Go..... 7% to 15% tongue weight.....

If it handles well, at Speed,... I'd just go with it......

    Ayuh,....

    Basically,.....
If the tongue weight is Too Low,....
The trailer will wag the tow unit.......

If you're Not getting any Sway from it,.... You're Good to Go......

10k pounds...you're always going to know it's there. If, as stated, it does not sway at highway speed, you're fine.

I would move the axles back, especially if you plan on filling up the tank.

Having no sway from the trailer to one of those "Oh S....." moments is usually the combination of a moderate cross wind and a semi truck passing with a box van. Once the sway starts, it will accelerate in severity until the trailer brakes are applied before the tow vehicle brakes (won't happen on most surge brake systems); you accelerate moderately enough to put a pull on the trailer tounge; the wind hits it right and stops the sway; or you are lucky and are going up a hill.

I would think that moving the axles back would be cheap insurance and provide greater peace of mind.
Internal combustion is a passing fad!
