Default Trailer Tongue JAck Rating ???

Are these jacks rated for tongue weight? I see them rated fr 1000lbs, 1500lbs ect. I have a 21" CC Striper on my trailer. The jack seems to be stripped or something as I can turn the handle but it does not jack up. . I guess I will be buying a new one but do n0t want one which is under rated for the weight as perhaps the current 0ne may be.Trailer has a Hurley jack on it now . Can it be serviced?

never heard of Hurley, all you are lifting is the tongue weight, i see people buying 2,000lb jacks, to lift a 150 lb tongue weight. Fulton makes on of the best.

On my 21' Bayliner Trophy, I bought a tougue jack rated at 1000lbs and after a couple of months it broke off from the large bolt that the jack swivels on to the 90 degree transport position. I've since bought a 2000lbs jack that has double wheels on it and that swivel bolt it seems to be holding up alright.

I've noticed that raising and lowering the jack works well, but if you have to push the tongue left or right to match the tow ball, then that puts the stress on that swivel bolt.

Thannks for the replies. Can my old one be fixed? It won't go up or d0wn. How do you take them apart? Handle turns top gear seems fine. Seems to be constructed same as a Fulton.

In many cases they are never meant to come apart and the parts are "formed" around other parts to fasten them together. It really is a throw away item.

That will save me time from tinkering. I noticed that their online site says that they have a lifetime warranty. I'll try that. Thank you all for your replies.
