    Default Trailer tire help

My duel axil trailer pulls a 24 foot Sea Ray with a wet load of 3500 lbs. I replaced the Bias tires 14 months ago with what I thought were good radial TOWMASTER ST175/80R13 load class C 6 ply tires. I had a blow out 2 weeks in a row with these tires going 65 mph on I-95 in Florida. What did I do wrong? The only thing I can think of is I had either low tire pressure, defective tires, or I should have stayed with BIAS tires.HELP me please!!!sorry my 1998 seaRay deck boat dry weight is 3,750 lbs, add gas ,water , and beer and you will be close to 4,000 wet

Bias vs. Radial won't make a difference on whether a tire will blow-out or not, it is the load range. I would imagine the old tires were a D-range 8 ply tire. Look at the load-range for the tire you are purchasing, make sure the max capacity is well beyond your load. Bias ply tires and radials do handle differently, but that is a whole different discussion.
    The wetter, the better.

Overloaded and under-inflated tires is the cause of most blow-outs. Wrong tire size/load rating and underestimating the load is the root cause of overloading.

tire on tandrems also take more abuse, as in scuffing in tight turns, they don't steer, they slide. causing uneven tire wear, extreme stress on the sidewalls. you have to take all the into consideration. thats a lot of money depending on what you put under it.

Big Al had to make a decision before the weekend so I decided to stay with the Radial tires and properly maintain the air pressure. I went to 5 tire dealers and trailer manufacturers and got 5 different answers. It's obvious that there has not been much research on this issue. Ideally I would like to modify the trailer to take a larger tire so I could get the best load rated tire that they make.

I think you're overloaded and the best you can do now is run 'em at max inflation pressure (cold), slow down, and ... make sure the spare is properly aired up.
