Before I make something simple into something hard (again), What's the easy / fast way to remove and install them "Hog Clips" on the ends of roller axels?

I used a pair of "water pump" pliers on mine. Worked well.

FYI - I've used SS cotter pins in lieu of these too.
Nothing is so broken that Government can't make it worse.
