Installing new trailer wiring..how do I clean out the crud in the trailer channels?

Hello

I am going to install new trailer lights and wiring on my bass tracker. The trailer is about 20 years old so I want to use new wiring. I removed the old lights and trailer tongue and noticed there is a significant amount of rust particles and other matter than I would like to blow out of the channel. I was wondering if anyone else has tackled this before. I have a snake to run the new wiring but I need a different plan to clean out the channel. Any advice would be appreciated.

Is the snake stiff like a fish tape? If so, you could probably just tape a stiff brush to it and go to town.

If it's rust inside the channels then you're just wasting your time trying to remove it. You can blow out dirt and other debris with a pressure washer or do-it-yourself car wash, but again, mostly a waste of time. IF you could sandblast the insides, then prime and paint, then you'd be good to go, but it would be near impossible to do and not worth the time and trouble. Best to just run your new wires and go fishing! Good Luck!
