most states the tow vehicle insurance cover the liability of the trailer. not replacement in an accident.

Your auto insurance will cover that. Also my boat insurance is covered by my homeowners and my trailer is covered there too. I did not request that coverage it just came standard. so a little double coverage never hurts. my auto is replacement and homeowners is liability. Check with your auto to see what they cover, a few extra bucks a year might be worth it.

now to answer your question. No you do not need trailer insurance in PA. It falls under the tow vehicles policy. Now, if you have your trailer UNHOOKED sitting in your driveway and it rolls down the street and pushes your neibors $110,000 Porshe into his $800,000 house you may have a problem.

With my insurance if it is on the truck it is on that insurance if it is in the garage it is on the house insurance.

You can call your agent to check, but I am sure anything hooked to your vehicle is covered by the car insurance.

My boat and trailer is covered by both my house and car insurance for 1500 dollars. My boat is worth much more than that so I bought a seperate policy through Progressive. The house insurance has a lot of stipulations on it and basicaly if your boat isn't under a roof wind and storm damage will not be covered.
