Bigfoot runs for 2 seconds and dies

My merc 25 bigfoot 4 stroke has been stored a long time. When I start it it dies within a second or two. I pump the primer bulb and pull the rope again, it starts and dies in 1-2 seconds as if it is not getting fuel.

Carb, EFI or something else?

Carb. The motor is 22 yrs. old but only has a few hours on it.

The carb may need to be cleaned. First test is to remove the high speed jet cover bolt and pump the primer to see if fuel runs out. If it does, then it is likely the carb idle circuit is clogged. If no fuel then the inlet needle is stuck or some other part of the fuel system is clogged.

You might buy a carb kit and clean the carb and install the kit.
