For those you you that had been following our original post sometime ago, a few weeks ago we got the boat pretty well completed. I know many of you will not like the paint job, but we built the boat for a dual purpose fishing and hunting boat, fish dont care what color the boat is but ducks do.

Our first water test just went to a small local lake.
Since the boat was rated for 240hp i was a little worried the 150hp merc, might only perform marginally, but i sure was wrong, had a top speed of 47mph on gps with 3 guys and a half tank of fuel on board on our second trip. Here is video from our first water test( hopefully it works i think you will have to click on picture)

This is what most of us are all about.
Take your old and tired boats and give them a new life.
Customize it to fit your needs for a lot less then new.
Get out there and use it without breaking the bank.
Good on you and yes I like the paint job too.

I love the stealthy gray paint. I'm in the process of turning my 22' Islander into a center console. I like what you did. WOW! I just watched the video. That's a holeshot! Are you sure it's rated at 240hp? I thought it was 140hp.
Yeah im sure its 240hp. Here is a pic of my capacity plate.[IMG][/IMG] Dont quote me on this, because im not entirely sure, but it seems from the research i have done, any of the hulls that came with 20 inch transoms have a 140hp or so rating, but the hulls that had a 25 inch transoms seem to be rated for 240hp,
Like i said, not saying that is always true, but from looking up the different model specs here on iboats and on abos.com, that seemed to be the differences in ratings.
You can help me -- What year is the Merc 9.9 you have on your boat. I have one just like it i purchased on craigs list with NO serial number in fact itwas painted silver when i bought it. It a 9.9 4 stroke el start log shaft. It sits next to the 200HP Johnson on my 22 holiday 1975. thanks
Looks great! I have a 21ft Mariner that I picked up last year. I gutted all the interior and plan to throw a .125 5052 aluminum floor in it. Thought about running a side console and after seeing this my decision is made.
