    Default 1964 Starcraft. newbie

Hello everyone, new to the site and to boating in general. But my friend gave me a 1964 Starcraft 16' fiberglass, deep v-hull with a 70 hp mercury outboard motor. bimini top and carpet is a year old. She needs some work done but thought id post a few pics of it and to see what everyone thinks. Also any tips or ideas would be great. Planning on fixing her up and should be in the water soon. (plus if anyone could tell me anything about it that would be awesome, trying to figure out what type of starcraft it is)IMG_2483.jpgIMG_2502.jpgIMG_2503.jpgIMG_2505.jpgIMG_2506.jpg

Welcome to the Starmada MR.! Thats a nice looking boat with a TALL merc on it! As for models, does your boat have a Coast Guard data plate on it giving the max HP and load capacity? That often states the model. If not, I'd suggest glancing through the many Starcraft brochures in a thread stickied at the top of the forum page. Is the transom solid? Again, welcome aboard!

Looks like a sweet ride, Mr. bling. I'm with EZ - nifty old Merc.

Thanks guys, im excited to get it on the water. My friend says it runs fine just needs a good tune up. so planning on opening it up hopefully this week and take a look at it. The transom is soild and i did find a data plate on it. Says its a 16 ft Newport. ill post a picture of the plate but its kinda hard to read. The serial number starts with 65 so i think its a 1965. ?

I think you got it, bling. The SC's from that era usually started the SN with the year.
