I was working on my boat today and found a metal sticker for my motor that I thought was missing...It shows a model number of E150ANCRS and serial number J0000014 on it there is an operating range that says 4500-5500.So does this mean I should be propped to turn about 5500 or is it safer for the motor to be in the 5000 range. Also this is a 1984 motor and was rebuilt and the previous owner said he was told that the mechanic cranked up the HP.....I don't know what this is or if was BS..I know that you don't just crank up RPM's.

Max safe operating rpms should be 5500. Don't prop any higher.

Smitty

I don't disagree with 5500, but I would darn sure make that the MINUMUM RPM with a load.
Prop for 5800-5900 by yourself, maybe even 6000.

Prop for 5800 RPM with a normal load for best engine life.
