I have two 89 VRO J140's one counter rotating on my Hydra sports Vector 25 W/A. The starboard engine control must be set at least a half inch forward of the port engine control to match the portside RPM's. Plus the starboard side engine stalls whne idled back ( about 800 RPM's). The Port engine idles at 1100 RPM's very nicely.
How do you adjust the throttles to match?
Thanks

Re: J140 VRO Throttle Cables

Hi Dave...glad to have you on iboats!

Might consider a thing or two about your engines. If the starboard engine is stalling, gotta be a reason why other than just setting up the idle which may hide a problem. Is this a new problem or has it been like this for a while?

How long has it been since the carbs were overhauled and the sync and link done? If your stalling, could be dirt, deposits, etc., in the carb idle circuits. Not a good thing.

Could you post when the last maint. was performed on the engines and what was done?

A good OEM manual would also be a plus for you also.

We got guys that can help. Just keep postn'.

Re: J140 VRO Throttle Cables

I just bought the the boat in Sept.Had it surveyed at the time. They run great, start easy, but the starboard side stalls at idle. I also have to keep the starboard side throttle about a half an inch forward of the the port side to keep them in sync. The cylinders all have between 127 and 130 pounds of compression on both engines.
