Hello all,
This is my first post and hoping you can help sorry if this question has been asked I searched but could not find.
My 140hp johnno has an overheating problem, from cold it will get up and plane but after
several mins at 1/2 to max revs the engine dies back to 1500rpm's and goes into limp home mode.

The tell tail stream is quite strong but the 2 cylinders on the starboard side of the motor overheats. On land with the muffs on after several mins operation at idle you can not touch the r/h/s cylinders the cylinders on the left are warm as per normal operation. Could this be a
thermostat problem??

And could any one advise what year my motor is,

Regards

Pete

Welcome Pete! Good to have another Aussie aboard. You got lottsa friends here too!

Motor year is an 84'.

Yep, probably is a t-stat problem if the other side is OK. Your t-stats are located down under the exhaust cover in an oblong box.

There was just another post with the same problem here just a while ago. I'll find it and post the link for ya'.

Look just down the list for "evinrude cooling system diagram" from Cortes165.

He's got the same problem you do.

If you have anymore questions, don't hesitate to post.
