I have 1990 150 Evinrude that runs fine for the first 15 minutes in the water. After that when I get up to 3000 rpm, it starts spitting and sputters and the motor starts to vibrate, will not go past 3000 rpms. I can slow the motor down to 2500 rpm and it runs fine. Been to the shop several times they can't find the problem. The motor is not getting hot, water coming out is cool. The problem is always the same, first 15 minutes motor runs fine, then the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks

Check for fire to all sparkplugs when the problem occurs. Cool water from the tell-tale doesn't guarantee that the motor isn't overheating.

I have not tried that, but will. This what I have done, carbs cleaned and adjusted, thermastats replaced, good compression on all cyinders. Last visit to shop they said ran it in a test tank @3500 rpm for 30-45 minutes and test ran it at lake, no problems. I take it to lake after 15 minutes spit and sputter and won't go past 3000 rpm. let sit for 4 hours, try again, same problem.

Will....take a look at the plugs. See if any are cleaner than the others. You may be seeing some water injestion into a cylinder.
