When rebuilding a powerhead do you guys get the block tanked to clean it up?
Not sure if an aluminum block will take the chemical bath the way a cast iron block will.

Thanks, Mike

yes, go to a automotive machine shop and they have a hot vat thats just for aluminum, or you can use easy off oven cleaner, but do not leave it on for longer than a few minutes as it will etch the aluminum.

Most machine shops use a cold system for aluminum. The "hot tanks" will destroy a outboard block in short order. If the machine shop you are working with isn't sure... use someone else. Indy has several good machine shops!
