Hi, I have a 76 rude 25hp with a toothed flywheel and would like to put a starter on it. What years, and horsepower range johnson/evinrude engines have the same mounting holes on the engine as mine? I need the starter and bracket, and im not sure what will work. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Re: 1976 25hp Evinrude starter/bracket
The 18, 20, and 25Hp models by both Johnson and Evinrude would use the same setup throughout the 60s and 70s into the 80s. The 28Hp was also based on that powerhead if I'm not mistaken, so I would think those would fit as well, but no guarantees.

I found a starter on Ebay with the bracket but the seller said it fits a 78 + 20-25 hp OMC engine. Here is another that I found on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tego ry=50439Would it work? Thanks
FYI, the late 1980s "28 SPL" is NOT based on the old 22-cubic inch powerhead, rather it's on the 31.8 cube powerheadused on the 1980s 20, 25, 30 and 35hp models...- Scott
Although the '78 starter should work fine, the bracket will not. I think it is different to accomadate the different size of the '78 flywheel.(The 60's 28hp is based on the larger engines, if that's the one you ment, so starters from it won't work.)
