1972 50 hp evinrude "selectiric" shift.
motor runs, idles, and shifts, but missfires. ive narrowed it down to the fact that number 2 cylinder isnt geting any fuel. not sure why. even if i spary it directly into the carb throat, it still doesnt FLY out the plug hole, like it does #1 cylinder.it will just puddle in the carb and puor out the front

ive swapped carbs, top with bottom, and no difference.

with carbs off, i can lightly push on reed valves and they open easily.

compresion is 145 on both cylinders, cold.

what can i be missing. ive rebuilt the carb about 4 times now, hoping to find a stuck float or anything out of the ordinary, but nuthing!!

any ideas?

mike

Look for a pressure/vacuum leak in the crankcase or bypass passage, Mike. Might also be in the manifold/reed plate area.

Good luck. :)

Could be that the bottom crank seal is out too - you'd never know it until you pulled the head.
If you've got access to the bottom crankcase chamber, say through the fuel pump pulser or something, hook up a tube and blow through. Sometimes the problem gets really obvious when you do that. If the bottom crank seal is out, you may be looking for a new bottom crank bearing too.
Make sure the piston is up though! :)
