Has anyone seen a schematic or some other diagram of how the water flows through this engine?
My understanding is:

Screen
Pump
Water Tube
..
Don't Know
..
In bottom of cylinder jacket
Up Jacket
Through Thermostat to Head
Down Head
Exhausted somehow down to port in front of lower unit and possibly exhaust

Somewhere in here, the lines through the water control valve circulate through the block, keep pressure on the back of the thermostats/veratherms and send some water out the vent hole.

Thats a lot of opportunity for blockage - are there more in the "don't know" part?

Have a look at Mik's "Rebuilt 150 Runs But Overheats" post. That's a X-flow schematic but it'll give ya an idea of how your looper flows.

c/6
Hooty
