Over the winter, I have been looking at purchasing a boat between 24 feet and 26 feet. I am thinking either a walkaround or a centre concole. I started out looking at outboards, but am also considering the inboards right now. I will be primarily using the boat for fishing in Lake Ontario and Scuba diving around the 1000 Islands region. The current boat that I am looking at is a 25ft. Boston Whaler Renegade with the U.S. Customs wheelhouse design. The boat is powered by a brand new 5.7L I/O (Still with one year warrenty).The reason I ask this question is that the boat is over 4 hours away from me, and if I am gonna go and have a look at it, I wanna make sure that the trip up there is going to be worth while. If anyone has any recommendations as to what they think of this boat, or what I should be looking for please let me know. I definily want to have a marine survey done on the vessel first before I make any big decisions. I have never had any exerience with Boston Whalers, however I know that they are unsinkable, I just would like to know as much about this boat, before I make any more decisionsThanks in advance for the advice, and sorry for the long post.....Belchy

I have never had any exerience with Boston Whalers, however I know that they are unsinkableSir, the 25 B/W will sink just as fast as any other brand in the 25 foot range, if the boat hull is breached its going down. My best friends B/W sunk and it had an outboard on it.Just be sure to have the survey done, buy a manual, and do some research on the value of the boat. I am interested in the stainless steel trailer, never seen or heard of one.

Do you know of anyone that has boating experience and perhaps with the type of boat your thinking of purchasing? Get them to go along with you to have a look at it. See if the current owner will allow you to have a mechanic check it out before purchase.......
