HEEELp!! 1969 Johnson 85hp Outboard Problem

really need help with starting my motor. I have a Johnson outboard 85hp model# 85ESL69. It has electric shift, choke and ignition. When i try to start it the flywheel revs right up and my propeller spins slowly but the engine doesnt crank up. Why not. Is it my ignition switch? I need help from someone who knows more than me about this stuff.
