1984 150 Evinrude

I have a 1984 150hp Evinrude...when I start it sometimes it sounds like the bendix on the starter kicks out...if they have one....auto mechanic here...lol...so I restart it and engages fine....does it often if cold....any suggestions....should I replace or what ?

try killing ignition and cranking moter for 30 secs if starter doesn't kick out therte may be another problem if it does kick out replace bendix<br />also wouldn't hurt to put brushes in it
