Just purchased a boat with an older evinrude motor man says it is 25 horse. After reading through some of the forums I believe it is a 1957 18 horse. Can someone please verify what I have and what oil / fuel ratio it takes. I have no manuelfor motor so any help would be great. Serial # is 15922-02732 and I dont see a model #
Thanks

Thank you for the info I take it the first number on the old evinrudes is the model number. Since the guy I bought it from was running it at 50/1 does that do anything to the motor?

Re: What is it ???

norcal, from what i've read on these post on the older motors they had a differant type bearings an required a 24:1 ratio. As for your question, it just depends on how much it was run on a 50:1 ratio. Run a compression check with a gauge from any auto parts store. Your not looking for how much compression, but the differance between cylinders. Shouldn't be no more than 5 psi according to my manual.

Hope this helps.
