I have a 1979 Evinrude 70hp that seems to be starving for gas at high end under load.
When I run the engine out of water, it idles fine, runs fine in forward at all levels and reverse as well.
When I put the boat in the water under load, it seems to loose power and only runs well at the slow speed. As soon as I engage into high speed, I have to keep priming to keeep it running.
I bought a new gas line from the tank to the engine, new spark pugs, blew out the lines with compressed air and checked the fuel filter.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Check the vent on the fuel tank, make sure its open or not clogged(if permanent tank).Look for clogged pickup tube/screen in portable tank.Check all fuel line connections for leaks and tightness.Check the fuel pump screen(filter).Malfunctioning fuel pump.Carbs may have dirt/debris blocking the jets.
