Many thanks on my first original post a few days back, concerning engine specs on my first boat.

Put her in the lake again this weekend and she did great. I have a few questions if anyone has a moment.

1. She fired right up the first time and ran good for 30 - 45 minutes straight. Got ready to load up on trailer (had spent most of day getting running lights, pump and trolling motor wired), ( had to tie up and back up trailer myself, wife stinks at backing trailer) Got back in boat and it would not turn over. Pushed the key in for choak but would not fire. Rumor I hear is that Evinrudes are known for doing that. If run for length of time and then shut down they need to cool down before starting again?

2. Also was suggested to bypass oil tank and add oil directly to gas. Was told the warning buzzer sometimes does not go off if oil is not being fed and could have problems.

3. 16' Bass Cat with 70hp Evinrude, with myself steering (215lbs), wife (115) beside me, daughter (100) on same side as wife. Boat leans left and when daughter shifts to my side leans other way. Have stingray on motor, does that effect weight distrabution even more?

TIA

Welcome, my husband changed over from vro to manual mixing with oil in gas tank. Works great, you have to keep up with your oil mixture with your gas. Our buzzer still works this way, if it over heats it will let you know its running hot. But there is know oil warning, because you are mixing directly to your gas tank. You block the oil whole off and change pumps. Just thought we would let you know, it does work great for us. By the way we have a Evinrude 110.

What year is your 70?

Read this for bypass procedure.

http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=36;t=000010

I, personally, woulkd not bypass it. It (Oil injection) never "forgets" to mix oil with the fuel.

Hard starting when warm is NOT typical or normal. When was the last time the water pump was serviced? If you do not have a manual, get one. It will be the best $30.00 you'll ever spend.

See link.

http://www.outboardrepairs.com/manuals/

The "fin" can definetely aggrevate handling problems. They're easy to remove, for a trial.
