I know there is no oil pump in this case.<br />There is a forward gear and a reverse gear, attached to each is what looks lika a large spring. It rotates with the gear. Immediatly in front of/behind the gear and nested inside the big spring is a hub, which is splined to the propshaft. Again, either in front of or behind the hubs is the coil(electromagnet. When the coil is energized it pulls the free end of the spring towards it. The spring drags across the hub annd wraps around it. This locks the gear/sppring/hub as one assembly causing the propshaft to spin. Denergizing the coil allows the spring to release the hub and the propshaft stops spinning. 2 wires, one from each coil come up from the gearcase. This why people say to get a manual. It will have drawings and pictures of this stuff, and as they say ' a picture is worth a thousand words.
