Default pre-spring maintenance Evinrude 115

Getting ready for spring. My Evinrude is a 1975 V4. I'm pretty sure it had not been in the water for quite a while before I put it in this summer. I've purchased new carb rebuild kits and impeller, but as long as I'm going in, should I get an entire water pump repair kit? The water coming out of the engine is nice and warm and the thermostat seems to be working fine, but, would it be wise to change it also? I'm going to replace the fuel filter screen and gasket, but should I get the whole pump assembly as well? I know I need an orifice driver to work on the carbs, but are there any special tools I'm going to need to work on the impeller/lower unit? thanks, blt

billy - I agree with Fucci sorta - Impeller - definately, complete water pump - only if needed, fuel pump screen - clean/replace as needed. Might be a good time to add an in-line fuel filter/water seperator if you don't have one.If your motor is running fine I would recommend that you leave the carbs alone. It is the old "if it ain't broke --------". Also give some thought to changing the gear oil (new gaskets on the fill/drain plugs), spark plugs, grease all fittings (& prop shaft) & you should be ready for the new season.
