I have a nice little motor that has never run well. I had it tuned up and it ran ok for about 2 weeks. I am in the troubleshooting mode now. I cleaned and checked the gas tank and connections-checked the o-rings in the line connectors and one leaked a little. the one toward the motor-I checked the gas filter assembly and found a slightly torn gasket on the thru bolt hole toward the perimeter. So, that is as far as I've gotten. I feel the points are set right. THe plugs are new and gapped correctly. I am wondering if I should tear into the carburator. The motor will start but when I give it gas it chugs and sputters. What are the two pins on the gas tank connector for. THey are attached to the gas gauge on top of the gas tank and push out against the gas line connector.

Also, where do I get a manual that I know is for the Evinrude Fisherman the serial number is 6902-E05066. SOrry for so much stuff.

Hi, Dennis.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Your engine is a 1969 6hp.

I agree that your carb needs attention but do not attempt it until you have the manual.

Good luck. :)
