i have gone through all the trouble shooting for my 55 rude and it's looking like i need a starter.<br />the only place in town has to order it @340.00<br />it's a preston starter the cost discerning.<br />can you by a rebuild kit or should i just eat the cost of new to avoid on the lake problems later.

Many folks just take it to a local automotive rebuilder.

Do you have the OEM number off the starter?

I had a starter rebuilt at a place were they do auto starters and alt, coast me $40 this was two years ago. Good luck, good boating

Most of the time, it's the problem with the brushes. I would replace the brushes and see how it goes. <br /><br />That price is way too hight for a marine starter. <br /><br />Anyways, you already ordered it.<br /><br />Good luck,<br /><br />Nam
