Oil Streek and Heavy smoke

restoring 62 evinrude with a 65 90hor even out board got it up and running but in testing in a 50 gal drum running i get heavy black oil in top of water as well as thick smoke ,tune up time or am i facing sever damege??? also where the hell is the oil coming from unburn fuel???

No need to worry. They almost all do this in a drum. The oil from the exhuast is what your seeing floating on the top and they smoke more in the drum. You may be possibly running a little rich, but until you get it out and run it on the lake, you will not know that. and you will not notice that oil on the water, as it will be in a much bigger area to dissapate..

ty rick 1 more question befor i get it on the lake i have a heat light and was resentley in the lower end replacing some seals well now i get a hot light and says im running hot i however get lot of water out of the exhaust port and the manul says that water pump working fine in this case?? ideas posabl bad sencer
