Default Evinrude E-Tec 2 stroke oil-injected

I was in my local “candy store” Warner Marine in Costa Mesa. I was there to replace a rectifier that I blew the other day… While I was there, I noticed a new Evinrude toy. Evinrude E-Tec 2 stroke oil-injected Outboards. I guess these are oil injected two strokes. These new E-Tec’s seem to be reasonably priced? Does anybody know anything about these new motors? If someone were to purchase a new motor, would there be a better recommendation? Please correct me if I am wrong. I was under the impression that in the near futureCalifornia State Emissions Law will prohibit the use of 2 stroke motors and the sales of any two stroke after a predetermined date? If this is the case, should I even be looking at 2 stroke motors and just go to 4 stroke?

E-tec is the latest and greatest according to Evinrude. the emissions meet all the acceptable standards.also they claim to have the fuel economy of a 4-stroke and the high performance of a 2-stroke.they are fuel injected with a variable timed fuel/air mixture for maximum economy as well as performance.i priced a 50hp model here in canada and it is exactly the same as the comparable 4 stroke (honda or yamaha.i would consider putting one on my boat, but would like to see some consumer reports first.cheers!

C-RAVEN I have seen and read the propaganda for the web site http://www.evinrude.com/en-US and itÂ’s just sales pitching! I would also like to see a consumer comparison, which is why I posed the question here. I figured some of the local experts would have some first hand experience or expertise on these motors. I think I got a price on a 50hp just under $6K?~Cheers~to~You~

Seahorse – Thanks for the link. It proved to be very informative. I like a good gun-slinging shoot-out.Even though I don’t need a 90hp, it gave me a great education on models and design features. One thing they didn’t talk about in this article was price comparison? I find that very interesting. Most people in this economy are working with budgets. Sometimes my decision is based on the best “Value” for my hard earned dollar.~Cheers~
