At the suggestion of my mechanic, I had the oil injector removed from my 1993 Johnson 115HP outboard motor. What do you recommend for a oil/gas mixture, and will the overheat horn always sound or can this be disconnected.

We assume you mean the oil injection.

The mix should be at 50:1 (quart to 12 gallons).

He should have unplugged the wiring harness to the oil injection pump. If that is undone and you still get a warning then something else is wrong. The overheat warning will continue to work if the oil injection was disconnected properly.

yes, I do mean the oil injector. I was told that this model had some real problems with the oil injector and the best thing to do is remove it and mix yourself.

The oil tank has an alarm too.
