1990 johnson 200 hp no spark..won't start

can disconnect 3 or 4 plug wires & crank eng. 4 or 5 times then reattach plug wires & eng will start...eng. has 1336 hours. thanks for any help...Tazeee

Are you giving the engine plenty of prime when starting? <br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty

giving plenty of fuel but spark test does not show any spark...thanks for answering Hooty

Okay. Look on the powerpack, find the black and yellow wire and disconnect it. This is the kill wire that goes to the ignition switch and the engine stop switch. If the engine starts with this wire disconnected, chances are good that the ignition switch or the engine kill switch is defective. You'll either have to ground the black and yellow wire or choke the engine to kill it.<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty

thanks again...will pass this on to mechanic that is coming fri. to again work on motor...he is very good but has 4 engs. like mine with same problem & he doesn't have a quick solution...unsual for him...he is omc schooled with about 18 yrs experience.
