50 hp Johnson outboard losing power

Engine runs great until I stop to fish. I leave it idling when I stop (usualy for just a few min)when I proceed it will not reach full speed with the throttle wide open.If I put it in nuetural it revs just fine.This can happen after 20 min.or 40 min.but whenever I take it to idle and proceed it bogs down.The engine is 2 yrs old and might have 40 hr.s running time.HELP!

Hi John...welcome to iboats.<br /><br />Next time before you take off after fishing a few minutes, pump up the primer bulb. If this makes a difference and dosen't bog down, replace the primer bulb. The bulbs have two check vlv's in them that can fall apart letting some or in some cases, all of the gas run back to the tank.<br /><br />Keep us posted.
