carb problems

I have a evinrude 55 horse triumph model 55873. the carbs are out of adjustment. a friend told me that i need to get them senced and it would cost $400. how can i adjust these myself to get the moter started. i see that there are three carbs in a row. i dont know much about carbs. :mad:

Welcome!!<br /><br />Its kinda hard to know what you mean by "out of adjustment". If you suspect the carbs are giving you trouble, I'd start with a good cleaning and installing new OE kits. It cant hurt.<br /><br />This is assuming your compression is even on all 3 (within 15 lbs).<br /><br />Good luck!

dhadley,when i said out of adjustment, we took the boat out and it ran but couldnt get it over 20mph, friend started messing with carb and we had to be towed back in :( , since then the motor wont start. any sugestions??

Suggestions? Sure.<br /><br />Dont ask the same question in 2 threads. Its too hard to follow. Stick with one and ask the mods to close the other. Way less confusing for everyone, especially anyone who sees your second one but not the first. Remember, we're all here to learn too.<br /><br />As for the motor -- take compression. If thats OK, check spark. Post the results and we'll go from there. That way we know if we have something to build on or not.<br /><br />Good luck!
