Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I recently purchased a 50 hp Johnson that had been used very little over the last few years.
Intially the engine was sputtering at around 3000 rpms so I rebuilt the carbs (carb kit) and replaced the fuel lines coming from the fuel manifold to each carb. The lines were internally gummed up.I cleaned every orfice in carb checked the floats and reassembled. Engine does not miss now at high rpms but I am using to much oil.
I filled up with 12 gallons of gas and ran about 35 miles and used 1 gallon of TCW3. I have replaced the plugs the bulb for gas. I have not replaced the fuel filter. In order reach good idle speed and throttle response the air mixture screw has to be backed out around 4 turns. Should I remove the VRO or am I just covering up another problem.
